Mardi Gras Magic
The City of Natchitoches celebrates the Mardi Gras holiday each year with Mardi Gras Magic. The Natchitoches Historic District is converted to an array of Mardi Gras celebrations similar to the scenes of New Orleans.
The Krewe of Wag-uns Parade, featuring pets, children, Mardi Gras music, costumed characters and other community entities, travels along Front Street, the historic brick thoroughfare. Front Street will feature an assortment of Mardi Gras activities for the entire family. Various performers, musicians, actors, artists and more will line the sidewalks of downtown Natchitoches performing for visitors and locals. That night, the Krewe of Dionysos Parade will roll through the streets of Natchitoches. This family friendly night time parade consists of a dozen or more super floats with lots of throws including beads, cups and specialty items. Families are urged to set up along the parade route and tail gate with their family and friends.
